Do you love graphic novels? Do you love to code? Maybe you’ve never coded before! This workshop is for beginners who are interested in combining coding with creativity. Ren’Py is an open source visual novel engine that helps you use words, images and sounds to tell interactive digital stories. You will use Ren’Py’s easy script language based on Python to create a unique story that includes menus to allow your readers to make choices, affecting the outcome of their experience.
Laptops will be provided to all registrants. This workshop is open to ages 12+. Children who are 10-11 years old are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent for the workshop. If you’d like to take your work home with you, please bring a thumb drive!
This event is part of NERD Summit, an annual gathering organized by New England Regional Developers! NERD Summit is a collaborative effort with the local community, creating a diverse curriculum for relevant skill building. NERDs creates positive and supportive learning opportunities for people who work, or want to work in web and related technology. Too many smart, passionate people have been traditionally excluded from tech careers, and we’re changing that.
Space is limited – please register on this page to let us know you are coming. Also, please register with the NERD Summit so they have an accurate estimate of attendance. Thanks!
Ages: 12+ (10+ with adult)
