Code and computational thinking are fundamental literacy skills and they are also super fun! In this series of workshops you will build essential computing skills with Scratch, Python, and Construct.
We’ll begin with 2 weeks of Scratch coding. This block-based environment offers a great place to start and includes excellent multimedia capabilities. Make games and creative animations while using the same concepts that all other programming languages are built on.
Next we will explore Python, a text-based programming language that is one of the most widely used languages in the world. We will get deeper into data types, functions, iteration, and conditionals while building fun games.
During the last 2 weeks, we will dive into the Construct game engine that enables you to easily create and distribute games with complex behaviors including player controllers, physics, pathfinding, and more.
We’ll meet on Wednesdays (10/10, 10/17, 10/31, 11/7, 11/21, 11/28) from 2:00 to 4:00. The cost is $150 and includes all six workshops. If there are enough families participating we can offer a reduced price and will refund this cost reduction. We plan to continue on Wednesday afternoons for a winter and spring session as well.
