Join us for a hands-on week of board games, card games, and programming.
You’ll learn the Python programming language, play a bunch of games, learn how to plan and design a computer program, and code your own games in Python! There is a huge overlap between board games and programming: strategy, planning, design, and fun!
This camp is open to all, whether you’re new to coding or an experienced Pythonista.
Create awesome games with code and learn about digital animation with Scratch! And that’s just in the morning. After lunch, row, paddle a kayak, and explore the river. Later, there will be time for Minecraft challenges, playing ping-pong, and other fun activities.
We collaborate with Holyoke Rows for this fun summer experience! The trained staff provides safe and fun time on the water. No experience with coding, robotics, swimming, or rowing necessary – all you need is a willingness to have fun and try new things!
Schedule:
8:45 Drop-off
9:00 Coding Projects
12:00 Lunch
12:30 Rowing and Kayaking
2:30 Minecraft, Games
3:30 Pickup
Interested in hearing more? In this video, Lissie talks about the program.
During this week you will build and code a robot to solve challenges from past FIRST Lego League (FLL) robotics competitions. Whether you’re just getting starting with robotics or you’re an experienced roboticist, you’ll learn to design and build robots and attachments to pickup, manipulate, and deliver objects.
Members from the Cyber Scare robotics team will assist. These challenges encourage teamwork, learning, cooperation, friendly competition, and fun!
Create characters, stories, and games! Scratch is awesome for coding and animation. Scratch comes with a multimedia library or you can create your own art. With a few colorful blocks you can make stories and fun games! Add sound effects to make your projects even cooler.
Hear ye, hear ye! Calling all adventurers! Come join us for a week of dungeons, dragons, and coding!
You, and your fellow heroes, will explore a fantasy world together, overcome obstacles, and take on fearsome monsters in an original D&D campaign. But, most importantly, we’ll be telling a group story and seeing how it unfolds!
Meanwhile, you’ll also be learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while building a web tool for D&D that you can use for your campaigns and share with your friends.
Everyone is welcome, whether you are a veteran adventurer and coder or you are totally new to coding and gaming.
